With over 15 years of experience Jayson Obazuaye is a skilled professional basketball and fitness trainer. Hailing from the Santa Clara/San Jose Bay Area, Obazuaye began his basketball talent at Andrew Hill High School.
Jayson has always been a leader and over achiever. He began his freshman year of high school as a starting guard on the varsity basketball team and graduated from Andrew Hill with many athletic honors and championships.
Jayson was recruited by a plethora of Division I colleges including the University of Colorado where he received a full athletic scholarship. Obazuaye attended and played for the University of Colorado for 4 years and graduated in 2006.
Upon graduating from college Jayson was offered several positions to play basketball internationally. He played for a myriad of countries including China Egypt, England, Iraq, Libya, Nigeria, Poland & Qatar.
Jayson attributes his success to the many role models and leaders who pushed and encouraged him to consistently strengthen his skills, train, and practice, practice, practice, to be the best he could be.
Jayson’s primary mission and goal with Grind Season Athletics is to help others to become more skilled and confident in their athletic ability and ultimately reach their fitness and athletic goals.
Overall Jayson wants to be recognized as a positive role model and leader. He has been a beacon of light to several youth all over the world by playing in many third world countries and has learned the true meaning of hope. Nothing gives him more satisfaction than knowing he has given someone hope or has made a difference in someone’s life. Jayson once had a young boy come up to him and say “hey you’re “That” Trainer” Jayson snickered and replied yes i’m “That Trainer." Now Lets Get To Work. :).
With over 20 years of experience Keith Rucker is a well-respected athletic skills and certified personal trainer. throughout his career Keith has developed and run boot camps, basketball camps and speed/agility/quickness skills camps in high profile locations such as Stanford University and San Jose City College.
Keith has had the pleasure of training many professional and amateur athletes as well as general population clients. Keith believes in an individualized training approach. He designs a program based specifically on a client’s needs. He brings this same approach to group training using his knowledge of exercise progression and regression to tailor each camp to the needs of its participants.
In addition to athletic training Keith has coached basketball at high school and AAU level, he has also coached football. Keith has competed in track, basketball, and boxing at various levels and believes these experiences have helped him to understand how to help and motivate. Keith has a singular purpose and that is to help you reach your goals whether it is in an athletic field, run your 1st 5K or weight loss.
Keith helped found Grind Season Athletics with the intent to motivate and push his clients to be the best that they can be. Keith explains that his focus is to "motivate, inspire and encourage you along the way." He knows that with his help, he can help you reach or even surpass your goals.
An entrepreneur of Modesto, CA, who has always had a compassion for people and a heart that seeks our Higher Power. She is literally married to the game of basketball! She played basketball at Modesto Junior College and Green River Community College in Auburn, WA. - later playing semi-pro basketball in Lakewood, WA and San Francisco, CA. She graduated from Central Washington University in 2015 with a Bachelors degree in Business Admin. and a minor in Sports Business. She has then started a girls empowerment initiative, The Power in HER (which is now a program with She Became) and an annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Modesto. She is the President of the UBSUC Central Region and the NAACP Chairperson of the Stanislaus County Black Graduates Recognition Ceremony. She is an aspiring writer of literature, poems, curriculum, and proposals. She is a motivational speaker, presenting at the Stanislaus County Fair, Modesto City School's events, and Youth Conferences. She coaches Track & Field at Enochs High School, specifically long and triple jump. She continues her love of basketball through unique group and private basketball trainings that emphasis on mentorship.
